Course Description

The FY 2027 IPPS and coding updates bring changes that go beyond learning a list of new codes. Coders must understand how revised ICD-10-CM guidance, new ICD-10-PCS procedure options, and MS-DRG grouping changes affect the way they review documentation and assign codes. Join Mary D. Gregory, RHIT, CCS, CDIP, CPC, CRC, CCS-P, for a practical Coding Roundtable focused on applying these updates to inpatient coding.

We will begin with selected changes to the FY 2027 ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines and review new diagnosis codes across several clinical areas. We will also look at changes to the Alphabetic Index that may affect familiar code searches and encoder suggestions. The discussion will then move to ICD-10-PCS, including procedure and new technology updates involving cardiovascular care, spinal fusion, and other clinical services. Coding scenarios will give participants an opportunity to think through procedure details, root operations, and the documentation needed to support code selection.

The webinar will also examine selected FY 2027 IPPS and MS-DRG changes, including revised pathways for pacemaker procedures, spinal fusion, hip and knee procedures, and qualifying antibiotic-eluting bone void fillers. We will connect these changes to the diagnosis and procedure information that drives grouping, so participants can identify cases that may need a closer review.

This session is designed for inpatient coders, CDI specialists, coding educators, and others who want a clearer understanding of what changed effective October 1, 2026. Come ready to work through examples, ask questions, and leave with practical points to bring back to your coding practice.

Coders Get Paid to Think.

Learning Outcomes
